VA Aid & Attendance
The Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides supplemental income benefit to certain wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who meet eligibility criteria. There are asset and income limits before qualification. In order to qualify, an applicant must typically need assistance with certain activities of daily living or need care in a protected environment. Upon approval, the veteran or spouse would receive an income stream that can be used to supplement the cost of long-term care. This might include certain care in the home or other residential setting, assisted living, or nursing home.
